Diet

6/12/09

Grad school had been very consistent with my expectations.  For instance, by the time the summer had begun (after my first semester was over), I was pushing 200 pounds, about 20 pounds heavier than my usual “oh I’m so fat *whine whine*” weight.  After addressing the issues that were sending me to the fridge and out to eat all the time, I went on a tried and true (but very old-school) method of weight loss.  I stopped eating as if I were Mother Earth trying to feel all her starving children.  I am watching my calories and making better choices as to what foods I spend those calories on.

Within a month from weighing in at 199.8 (in which I went “ohhhh no I’m not going to 200 again!”), I was down 10 pounds.  I hope to keep up the trend.

I’ve also joined a gym.  I hope it won’t be made of fail.  Go, Charity!  I believe in me!

One of my English conversation class students was telling me about how one of his actress friends needed to gain weight for a part she was playing in.  “She has to be 180 pounds!!!”  *shocked horror on his face*  “I’m 180 pounds.” *deadpan expression on mine*  “What?  No you’re not!”  *playful shove as if I’m telling a good joke*  “Actually, I’m 182 pounds.”Wow, I guess it isn’t as much as I thought it was.”  “Riight.”

Here are two charts from my Japan “trying to diet” days.  Now collecting dust, but I’m still humored by them.

Go me!
