About
Hello!
Welcome to my site where I talk about things. Very exciting things, of course.
This is not a site devoted to a specific point in my life so much as the continuous progression of things. Currently I am on the hunt for a museum job, previously (and rarely blogged about as you can tell by the barren desolation from January to December of 2009) I was a grad student, and initially I worked in Japan.
Japan:
The first two years of this blog, until June of 2008, are dedicated to my time spent in Japan.
When I was and ALT through the JET Program, I resided in beautiful (humid) Fukuoka prefecture, in the small town of Yoshii. Fukuoka’s in Kyushu, in Southern Japan. If you don’t know where that is, it’s right next to South Korea. As a matter of fact (and one in which I never took advantage of), I was closer to Korea than Tokyo.
I enjoyed the ex-pat lifestyle in the land of dragonflies.
I love to travel, and wore the heck out of my car driving in between different states while in the US. In Canada, I didn’t travel so much, but I still managed to enjoy the lifestyle and scenery of Nova Scotia when I could.
All the pictures on my site, unless otherwise credited, are either taken from my Canon Powershot S5iS camera, or my iPhone. I previously used a Casio Exilim EX-Z60 camera (retired), myFoma O902iS cell phone, or my Foma N902i cell phone (lost to time…drinking is bad, kids!).
About the Site Name:
“Tea Smart Garden” is the translation of my first name from its kanji writing. It was created in 2002 when I was visiting my mother in Hakodate (a city in Hokkaido) for seven weeks. A man wrote calligraphy names for the study abroad students (I was not one, but they let me join classes since my mother was a professor doing grant research from their school), and, well, there you have it! One kanji name, coming up!
Charity = cha-ri-tei = tea smart garden = 茶利庭
